Freedom and Liberty: A National Responsibility

Freedom and liberty are the basic element of human life. Self-respect and exalted vision (and action) are the cornerstone of human nature. Only those nations which protect these basic values tend to succeed in life. The nations which turn their back on these basic values face worldly humiliation & disgrace.

The subcontinent remained in slavery for almost 200 (1757 to 1947) years. It was deprived of national freedom and human liberty. In this era if we want to understand the role of native organizations it is sufficient to judge what was their role in national freedom & liberty? What actions were undertaken to come out of slavery & abysmal situation? We can only appreciate the genuine historical perspective of this region if we analyze attitudes, vision and efforts of all human factions and organizations in this perspective.

It is a reality that the overall attitude, thinking and team formation of all natives of Hindustan were impacted by imperialist system during two hundred years of slavery. In this environment those people and organizations which internalized slavery reap benefits under the leadership of outsiders. They accepted national humiliation & disgrace to earn short term benefit. They resorted to treason, kept national freedom at bay, polluted the diamond of liberty with slavery, acquired land by polishing boots of foreign lords, and accepted foreign imperialist clerical system in the name of contemporary education. They became part of imperialist plots by promoting religious hatred, division & narrow mindedness. Certainly such people and organizations are a disgrace to the nation.

And there are people and organizations which protected the diamond of freedom & liberty. They gave sacrifices for glorifying human values. They revolted against slavery, poverty & despair, hunger of imperialism, capitalism & feudalism. They struggled for workers, farmers and deprived groups without taking into consideration their color, race or religion. They truly struggled for taking humanity out of slavery. They helped the people of this region. They selected the path of national progress and liberty.

The eradication of British Imperialism in August 1947 is due to sacrifices of these freedom loving Mujahideen and great leaders. Only those nations succeed who protect their freedom. In order to reap true benefit of freedom they should be ready to implement a correct system based on their vision & philosophy. They should be ready to offer sacrifice at any time. It is a sorry figure that the country which attained freedom from British imperialism due to efforts of national leaders, instead of reaping benefits of freedom, falls prey to American imperialism and capitalism. We are deprived of that spirit, thinking and struggle which is necessary to break those shackles. The understanding of freedom, its protection and struggle on correct lines are dire important in the lives of nations. At the moment of Independence Day we can only be successful by achieving these things.
