My dear students! Every Muslim should keep in mind the illustrious example of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). If we study the Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in the Makkan era, we will find that there was a lot of love and respect for the Prophet (peace be upon him) in his family. In the same way, other families also respected the Prophet (peace be upon him) due his noble manners and personality; due to the fact that he used to look after the poor. There was affection and respect in the heart of everyone for the Prophet (peace be upon him).
Allah ordered the Prophet (peace be upon him) to eradicate tyranny from society, to help oppressed people, and to free all people of the world from oppression and injustice. When the Prophet (peace be upon him) started spreading this ideology, the Prophet’s paternal uncle turned into his biggest enemy. The Quraish became his enemy, he was stopped from entering the Masjid Al-Haraam, and various obstacles were placed in his path in order to prevent him from fulfilling his mission (i.e., to eradicate tyranny, injustice, and oppression). Actually, this fact is worth pondering that the level of opposition and resistance faced by Prophets and their companions (Sahabah) is equivalent to the nature of their ideology. In the same way, rightly-guided scholars (Ulema) in the past, who are were on the same mission as the prophets, also faced similar opposition and resistance. You can see that the likes of Sheikhul-Hind Maulana Mahmood Hasan, Maulana Madani, Maulana Ubaidullah Sindhi, etc., faced immense opposition in their mission. In the same way, if you go all the way up, from Imam Shah Wali Ullah Dehlwi to Maulana Gangohi and Maulana Nanautwi - all our elders encountered innumerable difficulties and resistance and were forced to migrate from their homeland.
My dear students! This fact is worth contemplating that if you acquire knowledge without an ideology, then no one will oppose you; if you do not oppose the current established system (of governance and ruling), even then, no one will oppose you. You will only be opposed if you possess the right ideology and the ruling establishment of that time does not like that ideology. You will see various parties/groups and organisations who have Madrasahs, Masjids, and Khanqahs, but in reality they have become soul-less, they do not have any ideology, they do not have any respect, and they do not have any influence, to the extent that the Masjid - which is a big institution in Deen - does not even have a comprehensive party established on the ideology of Deen. The current condition of the institution of the Masjid is such that it either imparts the ideology of sectarianism or the ideology of observance of rituals and acts of religious devotion (Ibadaat). Such is our condition today, that we cannot even express the comprehensive teachings of the Quran in the Masjid; that we cannot impart the message of the programme of the Quran in the Masjid. This is our condition today, that we have strayed from the basic ideology of Islam and instead create groups/parties based on our self-interests. In such a condition, how can we expect the help of Almighty Allah? That is something worth thinking about.
My dear students! Remember! This Deen has been revealed to be supreme, not to be superseded. Various parties/groups create their own offices and then prepare their own workers there. A person from another party/group cannot go there. Now, take our Masjids: their manifesto is the Quran and the teachings of the Quran are comprehensive. But it is a great tragedy that, in today’s Masjids, teachings based on the comprehensive ideology of Islam are not being fully taught; there is not even discussion about the comprehensive ideology of Deen. Look at how influential and successful the enemy has become and look at how ignorant the enemy has made us (about our state). This fact is worth thinking about.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that during the era of decline (of Muslims), there would certainly be a rightly-guided party/group (Jamaat-e-Haqqa), but it would be limited in size and influence. There would be hundreds of parties/groups claiming to be on the right path but they would all be based on an evil and flawed ideology. The apparent activities of such parties/groups will seem to be okay, such as, building a Madrasah, building a Khanqah, going here and there to preach, but their ideology will not be that of the supremacy of Deen. Therefore, in this day and age (i.e., in the era of decline of Muslims), there is a need to impart teachings of (comprehensive Deen) Shareeat (law and jurisprudence), Tareeqat (spiritualism), and Siyasat (politics) based on the correct ideology of the supremacy of Deen. And what will be the sign of this party/group being THE rightly-guided party/group? The Prophet (peace be upon him) said that: The ideology of this rightly-guided party/group should be the same as mine and that of my companions (Sahabah).
My dear friends! When worldly people will start controlling the affairs of Deeni institutions, then at that time the true ideology will no longer remain in such institutions. Shah Abdul Raheem Raipuri once addressed Maulana Muhammad Ilyas Dehlwi in front of me and said: “Maulana! I am greatly fearful of creating a party/group. Once a party/group comes into being and it develops links with the nation on a grass-root level, the English infiltrate their agents into the party/group and then these agents subsequently subvert the ideology of the party/group which was originally based on the supremacy of Deen. The English do not eradicate a party/group. Instead, they make use of such a party/group (for their own agenda).” Shah Abdul Raheem Raipuri continued addressing Maulana Ilyas and identified certain persons to him saying: “On the one hand they serve you immensely, they bring large quantities of food, they have strong influence in the Madrasah, they are (apparently) pious and virtuous, they are strongly affiliated with Khanqahs whom they support. But on the other hand, they act at the behest of the Government (the English colonialists). The Government uses them as agents instructing them that so-and-so party/group is based on the true ideology so go and subvert their ideology.”
My dear friends! The Prophet (peace be upon him) and his companions were not allowed to enter Baitullah because it was controlled by Abu Jahal and his party. Therefore, the Prophet (peace be upon him) trained his party (i.e., the Sahabah) in Dar-e-Arqam and through secret meetings. You can see that because of their ideology of the supremacy of Deen (Ghalba-e-Deen), the Prophet (peace be upon him) and his entire party were boycotted, exiled and sanctioned for three years. In today’s day and age, even people who are jailed or imprisoned are given food to eat and their basic human rights are catered for. But in the case of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his party, when his party was boycotted and sanctioned, they were not even allowed any food to eat, to the extent that any persons visiting the Prophet and his companions (peace be upon him) would not be allowed to bring anything for them. In other words, results are only achieved if the the ideology is correct and the actions are noble. You can see that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) prepared and trained 313 persons who then established a government in Madinah which became their center.
Maulana Ilyas once said: “Deen cannot become supreme until the ideology of our masjids do not become the same as the ideology of the Masjid Nabawi in Madinah.” You will see that the Prophet (peace be upon him) ran his government from Masjid Nabawi. Hazrat Abu Bakar, Hazrat Umar, Hazrat Usman and Hazrat Ali all ran their governments in the same vein as that of Masjid Nabawi. In other words, the (institution of) Masjid is supposed to offer a complete understanding of, and guidance for, Deen which includes the rights of Allah (Haqooqullah) and the rights of other people (Haqooq-ul-Ibad) and both of these are linked with Masjid Nabawi. The center for judicial courts, the treasury - both of these were based at Masjid Nabawi; the center for eradicating injustice from the world was also Masjid Nabawi. Today, look at the condition of the Masjid? The true spirit of Deen has been overcome. You can see today that less than 5% of people come to the Masjid to offer prayers, and out of them, most are poor people. From amongst rich and capitalist-minded people, not even 1% attend the Masjid. So you can see the condition and status of today’s Masjid.
Now this is worth thinking about: Although the English did not prohibit education, but the education system that they created and left behind does not allow us to properly understand the ideology of the Quran and the purpose of the Kalimah. The purpose and ideology of the Quran is to worship Allah and eradicate injustice from this world and give freedom to the oppressed. It is the divine order of the Quran to eradicate poverty, establish peace, and put an end to an environment of war and fighting. It is the divine order of the Quran to fulfill the rights of your wives, children, parents, brothers and sisters, relatives, and neighbours. And going even further, the Quran enjoins upon us to fulfill the rights of all humanity.
My dear friends! The party/group that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) created gave independence to the Iranians and many companions of the Prophet were martyred in the process; they gave independence to the Europeans from their rulers and many were martyred in the process. It is a great shame that, today, we should read the Quran yet live like orphans (i.e., in a wretched state) and that we should have no ideology from whom the entire humanity can gain no benefit. We just keep the Quran for blessing and keep it locked in a wardrobe - that is not why the Quran was revealed.
In the War of the Trenches (Ghazwa-e-Khandaq), that while the companions had one stone tied to their bellies (due to extreme hunger), the Prophet had two stones tied to his belly. And that where the companions were busy engaged in digging trenches in order to defend themselves, the Prophet also had a shovel in hand and fully participated in digging. So this Quran that we read, its purpose is to eradicate injustice from the world, to free all of humanity (from oppression), to eradicate poverty, to establish peace. If this ideology of the Quran is not our ideology, then how can Deen become supreme.
My dear friends! The teaching of the Quran is not a business for seeking worldly gain. Therefore, adopt the ideology of the supremacy of Deen when studying the Quran. The Prophet Muhammad said: “When the act learning and teaching is done for worldly gain, then this is the sign of the day of judgement”. If we make this knowledge (of Quran) just for worldly gain, then we are bringing the day of judgement closer.
My dear friends! You have left your homes to learn Deen - your ideology should be the same as that of the Sahabah, your ideology should be the same as those rightly-guided Ulema who have adopted the same mission as that of the Sahabah. Do not look at the majority, the majority is always that of evil and the wrongly-guided. The Quran says: “The majority of them do not possess understanding and awareness”. It is a great shame that today all Muslim countries are controlled by imperialist America. Imperialist powers are in control and it is their system that is being run and it is their ideology that is being propagated. When it suits their purpose, they use religion (Deen) for their own agenda. They do not allow the supremacy of true Deen and neither do they allow the propagation of the ideology of true Deen.
My dear friends! It is thanks to Allah that today you are affiliated with this Khanqah (Raipur) whose ideology is that of Imam Shah Wali Ullah. In this Khanqah, you will find the ideology of Thana Bhawan and the jihad of Shamli. Protect this inherited trust (of ideology). Do not look towards the majority. Only the party that is on the mission and purpose of Haji Imdadullah Mahajar Makki, Maulana Qasim Nanautwi, Maulana Gangohi will actually be the rightly-guided party. Even though these esteemed personalities were few in number, they possessed the correct ideology.
In Madinah, the Muslims were in minority, but inspite of that fact, the Prophet adopted a strategy whereby the Muslims gained control over the non-Muslims. In the same manner, the Muslims gained control over the non-Muslims of Makkah. We offer prayers to improve our spiritual state. But if we take an overview of mosques we find people praying for 30, 40 years on end, but our morals and values have still not improved. It is a pity that the evils of society have become part of our person and we do not possess the the morals and values of Deen. Now look at what has happened: Namaz was supposed create Walis. Instead, nowadays, we see that the traits of people offering the same Namaz are that of tyrants and evil doers.
It is a major sin to not offer prayers. But is also a major sin to lie. To be told the truth is the right of man (Haqooq-ul-Ibad). Allah says that Namaz is my right and I can forgive my right. But lying, slandering, harming others - these are the rights of other men (Haqooq-ul-Ibad). I cannot forgive these sins. First seek forgiveness of the wronged and then I will forgive you.
Now consider the act of lying which causes immense harm to society. In the hadith it is narrated: the root of all evils is lying. It spreads mischief (fitna) in society and that is why it is classified as a major sin. And it is only through the elimination of major sins that this earth can become a place of paradise. And it is through the overpowering of these major sins that life on earth becomes hell. And we have come to make this place paradise.
When the Prophet came, the earth was hell. With the blessings of the Prophet and his party, the earth became a place of paradise through the supremacy of the ideology of Deen. People became brothers, to the extent that the Ansar of Madinah gave the Muhajir of Makkah a part of their business and personal assets.
Qazi Abu Yousuf was the Chief Justice in the government of Haroon Rashid which was so vast that the sun set and rose in his kingdom. Qazi Abu Yusuf says: “I stay free in the courts (all day). No cases come come forward.” This is what this world can become - a place of paradise. That is why we need to think about the ideology we possess: if it were to become supreme then this world can become paradise. That is why we need to realise our responsibilities and we will have to remember that our affiliation is with the Khanqah (Raipur) which has a great history of sacrifice. We too need to follow this mission which will in fact be a way of paying thanks for blessing.
May Allah give us the ability to follow in the footsteps of our elders and may He accept us for the effort of the supremacy of Deen
